Wow...I've only just started this journey and today I have to tell you I'm a semi-failure. I can't even blame it on valentines day - though I would like to!!!
First let me tell you of my success - I read the whole book of Esther last night. We are studying Esther in Sunday School through Beth Moore and she just brought me to tears in the video. Beth painted such a picture of Esther and being on orphan that I was literally crying before it was done. I've never been afraid of dying. I've often talked to Jesus about it...if he was ready for me, I was ready for Him. However, I never wanted to leave my kids behind. Not because I didn't want to be without them...because I didn't want them to be without me. Now, after Beth's lesson, I have to say I REALLY don't want to leave my kids. If He's ready for me, I just want Him to be ready for all of us. Anyway, after the lesson, I just had to read more, I had to read how her story ended. I knew a little about it because I've been in church for the last 30 years but had never read the book from front to back. It's a good read. If you have never read it, do so. Beth's point - and a good one - was that our destiny (our purpose) that God has for our life, is completely tied to our history. What God allowed to happen in our lives has shaped us into the servant He needs. It was very powerful.
So I completed Goal 4 last night. Wait a minute, that counts for yesterday...hmmm. How am I doing TODAY?
1)Walk daily - well not so far (my walking partner is not available tonight...anyone else? PLEASE??? Don't make me walk with the EN (Exercise Nut - my husband...I think I'll change that to Fiend...Exercise Fiend...yeah..that's a better description - not fRiend mind you...FIEND)
2) live sugar free - well except for that one lingering box of chocolate covered almonds from the candy sale...doing O.K. (and those are all OUT OF THE HOUSE NOW) I did PURPOSEFULLY not go to Sonic - and whether you all know it or not, that is a check in the victory column in my book. Sonic calls me when I drive by on the way to...well, anywhere.
In 2007 I went to Shake the Weight and did shakes for 6 or 7 months to loose weight. I Lost 25 pounds and was very excited. Recently I bought some of the fixings to make shakes at home and this morning got to looking at the container. Ingredient # 2 FRUCTOSE! Isn't that kind of defeating the purpose??? Then after FRUCTOSE was a whole long list of ingredients I couldn't even pronounce - which negates my goal # three - healthful, nutritious food. I'm convinced that eating foods closer to nature (whole, fresh or frozen) is the best way. Guess I'll have to ditch that breakfast idea. I can't be sugar free drinking shakes made with FRUCTOSE.
Goal # 3 - tonight we are having fresh squash (well as fresh as it comes from Wal-Mart) and onions roasted...roasted potatoes and a pork roast. Probably with some peas or beans too. Wow...I've got a lost of roasting to do!! Unfortunately, I've had that pork roast since before I committed to cooking from scratch and healthful so....I just have to use it, I can't toss it...food is tooooooooo expensive. Fortunately, I used to buy the flavored ones so it will taste GREAT!!
4 - reading from my bible...Well my bible reading/studying time has always been at night so I'll have to fill you in tomorrow.
I will probably just fill you in on my goal progress in future after the fact...cause it will be easier. The Exercise Fiend doesn't really like me on the computer when he's home...he wants my undivided attention. Which is a great thing from the one I love!!
Lord I pray that you will strengthen my friends who are committed to going sugar free (or at least eating healthier) and giving them opportunities for success. I lift up LE, MN, CH, and DP to you at this time. Strengthen their resolve, remove temptation and surround them in your love. In your son's holy name, AMEN
See you tomorrow. DLG
O.K. this is silly...commentint on my on post. But I was going to tell you all I was successful in bypassing Sonic by having something else to drink (ice tea from home) in the car with me. I have found that is my best defense against Sonic...never get thirsty.
